Now I Understand

Last year for quite a few months I followed the full moon and made notations of how it seemed to influence people. Folklore abounds with many stories and tales of the mysterious powers of a full moon...or just the moon in general.

As so often happens things got busy and I stopped my full moon reflections. I have so many varied interests that it's often impossible to do all of them justice! But as also often brough it right back into my vision!  I noticed the full moon or the near full moon and then I kept meaning to check to SEE the exact date of the August Full Moon....tonight I checked..... August 24th...

Now I understand the almost manic start of the school year...the ebb and flow that just seemed to spin in circles. The energy I felt that was electrical but not necessarily in a good energy way....Now I understand the high emotions, the crazy mishaps and the tension!

The August Full Moon is called the Sturgeon Moon based on the fact that sturgeon were readily caught during this time by fishing tribes. Other farming tribes called it the Grain Moon. It was also called Full Red Moon by some tribes. This is because in August the moon is often a reddish haze.

The abundance of fish and grain contributing to the first two names but what about the Full Red Moon....I know where the name comes from but to me this name more accurately describes the essence of this moon to me, in current time, and also based on how it "felt".

Full Red Moon....the moon in the sky tinted red by the atmosphere or by the energy displayed in the sky. It FELT like a Full Red Moon....hazy, confusing, something a little off balance. Something that should be simple like a full moon....entangled in something out of the ordinary...the red color! No the full moon wasn't red here but it felt like it!

Autumn is my favorite season. I'm not sure when I decided that. I'm sure when I was younger it was summer because of the wondeful freedom the break from school offered. But somewhere along the changed to autumn. The crisp cool mornings, football, colors that I love everywhere, my birthday, Halloween, and the fresh start of a "new year" (in school terms) just seem to appeal to me. Add to that...that my energy level seems higher in the fall and it all adds up to a great season!

This fall we are doing Schenck Girls at the Lake-Autumn on the weekend of October 2nd! Yippee! It will be dull by some people's standards BUT we make our own fun!  Add to that our annual Halloween party....the Witches' Ball this year...pumpkin patch trip with Evan....and possibly a trip to Kimmswick for Applebutter Festival ....and we are sure to have an event filled autumn.

While all that fun is happening I will be hard at work here at home, decluttering continues, as well as general cleaning. I'm doing some Trash to Treasures projects all is good.

I hope you are looking forward to autumn and fun things. Life is too short NOT to. I always try to have a couple things in the planning stages...just to keep life...interesting. Take Care Ginger's Journey readers and Be Kind!

Summer Reading

I didn't end up reading as much this summer as I would have liked. I guess when you take as many trips as I did you just don't have the time to sit down and I took three books on the trip to Mexico and ended up reading all three of them on the flights. Not much else to do but stress about the bumping flight and crazy landings! But to tell you the truth, I can't even rememer the titles...oh yeah...One was Concrete Blonde (and there was another murder mystery one) and then I can't remember the title of the thrid one but it was about ghost lights...sort of. It was a novel but not particularly well written.

I also started reading Enrique's Journey but it was depressing so I didn't finish it. If I'm going to read I want an escape not something depressing! I'm sure I read a few more books also but for the life of me...I can't remember what!!

I read the Christmas Cookie Club as part of Christmas in July over at Magical Holiday Home. It was interesting. It told the stories of several friends that all do this cookie swap each year. Sad at times but always with the message that life moves forward.

Now I am getting ready to read: 7th Heaven by James Patterson. It's one of the women's murder club mysteries. I like his other books better but these aren't a bad read!  I'll let you know what I think when I finish it!

Do You Believe There Are Angels Among Us?

"I believe there are angels among us. Sent down to us from somewhere up above. They come to you and me in our darkest hours. To show us how to live, To teach us how to give, To guide us with the light of love."

Although life has given me some hard times, though it is always a challenge, though some days I wonder just what else might happen....I believe there are angels among us....some in the shape of true spiritual guides and some in the shape of people who come into our lives and change us in unexpected ways.

Working, Blogging, and Living Life

Summer is such a blessing to me because in "my life" summer means ....days off from work! Today as I journey back to work, I am reminded that life doesn't STOP in August. I can sit here feeling disappointed and upset that summer is GONE.....or I can start planning the NEXT adventure. This isn't my first day back...I've already been in four days...but this is IT....this is the week...when days off are a distant memory.

I already have a few plans in place: the zoo (coming up August 29th if it's not too hot) Bennett Springs with Barb and Cresia Labor Day weekend, Schenck Girls at the Lake-Autumn (Sept. or Oct.) A day trip to Kimswick with friends, and my annual Boo Bash (this year it's a Witches' Ball). Wow....the fun just goes on and on....I have to plan fun in my life or it becomes dull and boring...and no one else is planning I might as well just take charge and do it!

Well....blogging time is up...time to shower and head into work to see what surpirses may await me there!

Houston....Last trip of Summer 2010

We took a short trip to Houston to see our amigo Jorge. We drove 14 hours through the night and arrived in Houston right on schedule 1:00 in the afternoon.....hmmmm...that is before we missed our exit and ended up in downtown Houston right next to Minute Maid stadium. We had to miss the exit because we were in the right lane and the exit was to the left...across SIX lanes of traffic. But that's okay....with a little help from the GPS (we decided it was time to plug that baby in!) we reached our destination!  We have SOOOO many stories to tell and all of them make us laugh. We have some great memories to keep us company until we see our friend again!

On our last day we drove into Galveston Texas which is hmmm 50-60 minutes away from Houston. We enjoyed the beautiful day and the ocean!  We have tons of pictures. We laughed even though we were sad to be going home so soon! But we know we will all get together again. The road may be long and the trip tiring but in the end it is all worth it. We had some great Mexican food....and we even had some Chinese food (lol). We went to a funeral museum, an aquarium, went swimming, and saw the ocean....What a great trip! But most of all we got to see our friend that we said goodbye to last July. One year!

Jorge is our amigo...I know not why.... but we are really close friends. Even though a year passed and miles seperated us, it seemed like we had never been apart. There are some people that God brings into your life that just seem to have a special place. It's better not to wonder why but to accept that it was meant to be.
I also think that some days are just meant to be...."Life is Good Today". Don't question it or worry about what a few hours will bring (goodbyes) just laugh and smile and enjoy the day God has given you!!

Not sure when we will be together again but we will!
