As the new school year starts, I never cease to be amazed at all the awesome bulletin boards and displays the teachers come up with. They are both cute to look at and teach students something. Or in the case of this one...make our students pause in their fast paced lives and THINK about their actions. Something if we all did....would make the world a better place!
Toni Hawley, computer teacher and WITS trainer has this on display. Every year we have so many students involved in unkind remarks, bullying, and other unkind actions through technology. Sitting at a keyboard or typing on a phone....seems to desensitize people. They may make remarks or spread gossip with no thought to the impact it has on others. As we connect with technology we often disconnect from people. I think this board will remind students that "words do hurt".
Black Hawk Middle School is a GREAT place to work. Thanks Toni for such a creative and helpful message to students! (and adults for that matter).
