Rollercoaster Rides

So far January has been a bit of a roller coaster ride.  I had decided to sign up to sub which meant my new "daily schedule" needed to be adjusted. Then my sister became quite ill and is still in the hospital. She improved some, relapsed, improved some and now is still quite weak and we are uncertain of her status. I realized clearly what a roller coaster ride and how exhausting illness is.

Sometimes I wonder if the universe is sending me messages or trying to hit me over the head. I also started my new "healthy living" regime in January. I'm pretty proud of what I have accomplished so far and the changes I've been able to "stick with." Seeing my sister so ill reminded me again of the need to be a guardian of our bodies.  Health is important and it so affects the quality of life and life expectancy.

My advice would definitely be...not to let things pass you by, not to ignore life or get in a rut. Live your adventures, take care of yourself physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

I'm on several adventures in 2015 even if January is off to a rocky start. I am participating/leading a journey called Soul Care 2015. It's an event I created on Facebook.  There's also a Facebook page called Soul Musings.  Everyone is welcome to join the event.  There are little mini assignments to help you get the most out of this spiritual journey and to nourish your soul but no one has to do them and they aren't graded. Some people just like to join the event to see the posts and the messages and that's okay too!

Five Things Friday: Five Things I Love

It's time for a Five Things Friday post (haven't done one in ages) so I thought I'd post about five things I love....

1. Casserole Crockpot....I haven't tried this out yet. I didn't find out about this new shape and depth of crockpot until after Christmas (of course) so I couldn't put it on my gift list. Never fear!  I used my Savings Catcher bucks to get it for FREE. (It's still at the store awaiting pickup...just been to cold to get up there!)

3. Capture Your 365 (yeah it's a challenge alright) I love this representation of "my gear."

Living My 2015 Word: Shine

Shine: definitions: give out a bright light or a quality of brightness, especially from reflected light.

I posted over on Facebook how my word for 2015 was going to be shine. Good words are hard to find because it needs to not only encompass what you want for your year but it also has to be applicable to various aspects of your life and life's journey.

Here are some ways shine will bring "sparkle" to my life in 2015.

I'm going to be participating in a Soul Care journey in 2015. Shine fits into this new endeavor in a variety of ways.  I want to "let my light shine" not for personal glory but to follow the path the Lord has placed before me. At times in life I have felt like I needed a bright flashlight just to find the path but I pray in 2015 the light will transform my doubts and insecurities in ways that allow me to shine not for myself but as a beacon for others. I want my daily life to "reflect" the light of God. I will shine!

Second I want to focus on the positives in life, to "leave sparkle wherever I go" rather than being a grumpy person that is seeing the negative at every turn. I don't think of myself as a negative person but we can all fall into the trap of negativity and sometimes it is simple a "habit." So may my thoughts and words SHINE in 2015.

I want to "polish up" my home until it shines. Not just a matter of cleaning and organizing but putting things in order so our home is a haven of warmth and comfort. So that it is the canvass of our hearts in ways that celebrate our family and our lives.

I'm sure there even more ways that I will "live" my word in 2015 but these are my thoughts this early day in January!
